Now most effective chemotherapeutic agents in treatment of breast cancer (MCF-7) have several/major drawbacks such as cumulative toxicities of nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity or treatment induced resistance. This has provided the motivation for developing novel metal complexes as anti-breast-cancer. In recent years, significant attention has been devoted in this direction. Cr (III), Mn (II), Ni (II), Cu (II), Zn (II) and Ca (II), complexes of (E) -2-((1-(5-acetyl-2,4-dihydroxyphenyl) ethylidene) amino) benzoic acid were prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV-Vis spectra, Magnetic moments, Conductivity, 1H-NMR, Electron microscope and Mass spectra, Thermal analyses (DTA and TGA) and ESR measurements. The analytical and IR data showed that, the ligand behaves as neutral or monobasic trior pentadentade. Molar conductivity in DMF indicate that, the complexes are non-electrolytes. Electron microscopic Data showed, the complexes are found in nano-form, ESR spectra of solid Cu (II) complexes at room temperature show axial type (dx2-y2) with covalent bond character in an octahedral environment. However, Mn (II) complex showed isotropic type. Complexes showed inhibitory activity against breast cancer (MCF-7 cell line) compared with standard drug. Ca (II) complex 8 demonstrated high potency inhibition activity against MCF-7 cell line with IC50 76 no toxic effect was observed (invivo studies).
