The Impact of the Piyungan Landfills Waste on Public Health Problems in Dusun Ngablak Desa Sitimulyo Kecamatan Piyungan

Abstract
The problem of waste is currently something that requires special attention because leaving the waste will have a negative impact on the environment. The smell of waste that disturbs the environment can also endanger health because waste is a cause of disease. Piyungan landfill is one of the landfills with service coverage for Yogyakarta City, Sleman Regency, and Bantul Regency. This study aims to determine the impact of the landfill on public health problems around the Piyungan landfill. This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach, the subjects of this study are the people who live around the Piyungan landfill. Informants were selected based on the snowball sampling method. Data collection was carried out by in-depth interviews and observation. Based on the results of research to the people of Dusun Ngablak, Desa Sitimulyo, it is known that the majority of informants often suffer from congestion, headaches, coughs, colds, sore throat, nausea, and itching of the skin. The risk factors that cause health impacts around the Piyungan landfill are environmental factors such as poor air quality, water pollution, soil pollution that can cause disease to arise due to accumulation of waste, which causes the proliferation of bacteria and disease vectors. To minimize this health impact, the community should be able to implement clean and healthy living habits (PHBS) and the importance of maintaining clean environmental sanitation.
