He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Eastern Medicine and Surgery (B.E.M.S) from Hamdard Al-Majeed College of Eastern Medicine, Hamdard University Karachi, Pakistan, in 2005. Excelling in his academic pursuits, he secured the first position in multiple professional examinations during his undergraduate studies.

Continuing his quest for knowledge, Dr. Akram pursued higher education and earned his M.Phil in Eastern Medicine in 2010, followed by a Ph.D. in the same discipline in 2013, both from Hamdard Al-Majeed College of Eastern Medicine. His doctoral research focused on the clinical efficacy of herbal formulations in gouty arthritis and the inhibition of xanthine oxidase by plant extracts.

 

Academic and Professional Contributions

Dr. Muhammad Akram's academic journey extends beyond his own studies. He has been deeply involved in academia, holding various teaching positions since 2006. His expertise encompasses a wide range of subjects, including Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, and Clinical Diagnostics, among others. Moreover, he has been instrumental in establishing and coordinating postgraduate programs, contributing to curriculum development, and supervising research projects.

One of Dr. Akram's notable achievements is the initiation and establishment of the M.Phil program in the Department of Eastern Medicine at the University of Poonch Rawalakot, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, in 2013. He has also been actively involved in administrative roles, serving as Chairman of the Department of Eastern Medicine and Surgery at the same institution from 2015 to 2017.

Dr. Akram's research interests span a wide array of topics within Eastern Medicine, including hyperuricemia, enzyme inhibition, phytochemistry, and clinical trials of herbal formulations. He has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences, garnering recognition for his contributions. Notably, his abstract on the effects of medicinal plants on Alzheimer's disease and memory deficit earned him the Best Abstract Award at the International Neural Regeneration Symposium in 2016.

In addition to presenting his research findings, Dr. Akram has authored several books and chapters, further disseminating knowledge in the field of Eastern Medicine. He has also contributed to various journals as an editor and reviewer, actively participating in advancing scholarly discourse.
