The&amp;nbsp;most&amp;nbsp;causative&amp;nbsp;agent&amp;nbsp;of&amp;nbsp;pharyngitis&amp;nbsp;is viral and the&amp;nbsp;second is a bacterial infection.&amp;nbsp;Prescribing&amp;nbsp;antibiotics without&amp;nbsp;confirming&amp;nbsp;the&amp;nbsp;source&amp;nbsp;of&amp;nbsp;infection&amp;nbsp;is&amp;nbsp;not&amp;nbsp;recommended&amp;nbsp;and should&amp;nbsp;not&amp;nbsp;be&amp;nbsp;applied&amp;nbsp;in&amp;nbsp;that&amp;nbsp;case. Our&amp;nbsp;results&amp;nbsp;involved&amp;nbsp;150 children&amp;nbsp;with sore throats and fever.&amp;nbsp;A&amp;nbsp;novel rapid chromatography immunoassay kit (Group A Streptococcus&amp;nbsp;diagnostic, USA) was used to detect Streptococcus pyogenes antigen in the samples.&amp;nbsp;FDA approved the equipment as a quick test&amp;nbsp;to&amp;nbsp;differentiate&amp;nbsp;between&amp;nbsp;viral&amp;nbsp;and&amp;nbsp;streptococcus pharyngitis.&amp;nbsp;Data&amp;nbsp;showed that 60&amp;nbsp;(40%) of&amp;nbsp;patients were&amp;nbsp;positive&amp;nbsp;for&amp;nbsp;GAS,&amp;nbsp;while&amp;nbsp;90 (60%) were&amp;nbsp;negative. The current study spots light on the pharyngitis caused by Streptococcus type A to prevent or&amp;nbsp;minimise the inappropriate prescribing of antibiotics.</abstract></article-meta></front><body /><back /></article>
