It has the major advantage of being a renewable energy source.  It is the largest source of renewable energy today. Bioenergy should be regarded as part of a larger bioeconomy. It is largely contributing to the transition from dirty to clean energy. Bioenergy can play a role in climate change mitigation and energy security. This paper provides a brief introduction to bioenergy.
