Sleep is a biological process and is required to maintain normal health. Nearly one third of human life is spent in sleep1. There is growing evidence that sleep deficiency in humans may cause glucose intolerance and contribute to development of diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, as well as impaired immune responses, accelerated atherosclerosis, increased risk of cardiac disease and stroke2.
